2025 BMW i5 Touring price and specs: Electric wagon locked in for Australia

The 2025 BMW i5 Touring wagon has been unveiled and, while wagons continue to disappear from our market, it’s locked in for a local launch.

It’ll arrive in Australia during the third quarter of 2024 (July to September inclusive), available exclusively in flagship i5 M60 xDrive Touring guise.

Priced from $219,990 before on-road costs, the i5 Touring is $4000 more than the sedan upon which it’s based, while also becoming both the most expensive 5 Series and most expensive wagon BMW sells in Australia.

BMW hasn’t confirmed the combustion-powered 5 Series Touring for Australia. A single, non-electric 5 Series sedan – the 520i – is offered here, positioned below the i5 eDrive40 and M60 xDrive. This trio of sedans went on sale here late in 2023.

Local buyers miss out on more powerful petrol and plug-in hybrids offered overseas, as well as three turbo-diesel powertrains.

The 5 Series wagon hasn’t been offered to the public here since 2020, although certain Australian police forces were supplied with 530d wagons after this date.
