Multiple BMW models recalled

BMW has recalled over 4000 vehicles across the 1 Series, 3 Series, 5 Series, X3, X5 and Z4 model lines as they could lose power.

“The bolts connecting the variable camshaft timing unit to the engine may break,” the company says in its recall notice.

“This may activate the limp home mode safety feature and potentially cause the engine warning light to illuminate and the vehicle to lose motive power.

“A loss of motive power while driving increases the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to contact BMW Australia’s Recall Hotline on 1800 243 675 or get in touch with an authorised dealer to have the vehicle rectified, free of charge.
